Mount Marian

 Tuesday 11 February 2025

Prior to the 1990's there was only an unmarked route to the Mount Marian  summit, but now it is mostly a formed track which has recently had additional clearing done.  The walk started at Myrtle Forest and climbed to the firetrail near Collins Cap, passed beside Trestle Mountain before the ascent of Mount Marian, where we noted the old chimney ruin and a big display of Pentachondra.

The day was quite misty and we eventually needed to put on raincoats to avoid getting too wet  At times it appeared that the sun might come out, but then it closed in again. The bush was quite wet so trousers got a soaking.   By the time we arrived back at the firetrail coats were dispensed with, but trousers got another soaking from the scrub during a visit to the unique field of Pineapple Grass at the foot of Trestle Mountain.
