In 2020 we explored several of the cliffs used by climbers at Sand River. There was one location known as North Ridge not visited and that was the plan for this walk.
There was drizzle when we met at Sorell, but with hope that this might stop once over the hills we set off for Sand River. On arrival the weather was OK and gradually improved during the day, with quite a bit of sunshine.
We took a little while to locate the start of the track heading upstream but Michael spotted some tapes and it was not too difficult from then on, but usage this way must be low and certainly is not worn like the main tracks.
The North Ridge cliffs were impressive and after lunch there was ample time for the circuit walk past the cliffs known as The Colosseum. There were some climbers in action there as we went past.
