18-20 March 2025
I knew that it would not be easy getting to Lake Oenone and it wasn’t. It was quite steep until the first cliff line was met and not so leg straining after that but once the sets of cliffs were negotiated came the scrub. Memory can fade, but it did seem scrubbier than it was once, or perhaps you can pass through these things more nonchalantly when younger. It was misty when we reached the floor of amphitheatre it was misty, but it started to clear a short while before retiring for the night. It took 4:20 from Echo Point to get to the campsite .
It was brilliant clear blue sky in the morning, and we thoroughly enjoyed the day on the northern end of the large plateau of Mount Olympus.
Bit by bit the forecast rain for Thursday got pushed back and the weather for the return leg was sunny until half way down the mountain and we arrived at Narcissus a good 30 minutes before the showers.
