There is quite a story to this area. Back in early 2024 Adrian Bol sent me some details about a walk to what he called Dry Falls and we made a brief check after Floras Falls in July 2024, but it was abandoned when viewing where we needed to go. Just recently Neville mentioned visiting this very property with the owner and thus this new excursion has got the go ahead.
The walk crossed this block of private property into Wellington Park land. It wasn’t a huge area of e land and surrounded by bush with panoramic views of cliffs and Collins Cap, whilst the northern side overlooked the foggy Derwent Valley. It was pleasant and felt isolated.
Eventually we ended in the bush and the steep descent towards cliffs and the small waterfall, but it was made easier by the zig zagging track that took us withing striking distance of the cliffs. From there it was a bit of a slow scramble, and we managed to reach the upper part of the falls where there was a small flow.
After and early lunch we headed back from this 5.5k walk which took almost 4 hours.
