Organ Pipes Area Red Paint
Tuesday 9th December 2025
This a walk that arose after Alan mentioned following part of what seems to be a recently cut track near the Organ Pipes. Although the start was obscure it was very easy to follow after that, with many hours of clearing obviously been put into the work. Some old red paint dots were noticed on rocks and it believed it could well be the route of Haywoods Red Paint track. We followed it to where it met the rough track to the top of the Organ Pipes and then continued up though the bush. Once we got close to the summit area we were exposed to the wind but also found the New Town Red Paint and followed that back down to the Organ Pipes Track.
On this last leg we came upon a tree guard and out curiosity I contacted Ben from Wellington Park Management Trust who provided the information that it was an attempt to protect an uncommon plant growing where it could get trampled (Centropappus brunonis - Tasmanian daisytree ). Unfortunately it didn’t survive.
